This 3D medical animation depicts a technique called stereotactic core biopsy. Stereotactic core biopsy is a procedure used to collect a sample of suspicious tissue for examination. A mammogram takes images of the suspicious area, then, guided by the mammogram and a computer the physician inserts a hollow needle into the breast and removes several small cylinders of tissue for examination.
